It is understood that from May 3 to May 9, 2025, the weekly composite operating rate of lead-acid battery enterprises in the five provinces covered by SMM was 64.79%, representing a WoW increase of 9.73 percentage points.

This week, following the Labour Day holiday, lead-acid battery enterprises gradually resumed production, leading to a rise in the weekly operating rate. However, as the Labour Day holiday for lead-acid battery enterprises spanned from late April to early May, the reduction in weekly operating rates had not been fully recovered. Entering May, the traditional off-season for battery markets such as e-bikes and automobiles continued, and the production enthusiasm of lead-acid battery enterprises remained moderate. In particular, export-oriented enterprises faced sluggish new battery orders due to factors such as tariffs and the SHFE/LME price ratio. As a result, the operating rates of production lines in some enterprises remained below full capacity even after resuming production. Next week, with the end of the impact of the Labour Day holiday and an increase in production time for enterprises, the weekly operating rate of lead-acid batteries may continue to recover.
